INTEGRITY. TRANSPARENCY. LEGACY.

“I am running to give every child a fair shot at a quality education, while putting the onus and final say over that child’s education back where it belongs, in the hands of the parents.”

Chairman of the Charleston Republican Party, Maurice Washington sits down with the district 2 conservative endorsed candidate for CCSD - Ed Kelley

Hi, I’m Ed Kelley for Charleston County School Board in District 2.

The time is NOW to work
FOR the PARENTS
.

My three pillars for success are:

FOCUS ON CORE COMPETENCIES
THROUGH TRANSPARENCY WITH PARENTS

BUILDING BRIDGES BETWEEN
FAMILIES AND COMMUNITY LEADERS
THROUGH INTEGRITY IN DECISION MAKING

LAYING THE FOUNDATION TO
LEAVE A LEGACY OF QUALITY EDUCATION

What is a legacy? It’s planting seeds in a garden you never get to see blossum.
We have the power to change our local education system.

Vote for Ed Kelley for District 2 School Board.

WHEN I AM ELECTED MY FUNDAMENTAL FOCUS WILL BE TO:

  • Remove excess topics from core curriculum and bring the focus back to CORE COMPETENCIES.

  • Provide parents with a GATEWAY TO COMPLETE TRANSPARENCY about what their child is taught.

  • Compensate and reward teachers to retain TOP TALENT.  This has a direct impact toward a CONSISTENT and HIGHER QUALITY EDUCATION.

With my leadership I will provide an organized framework to strengthen parent involvement, increase student success, and ultimately lay a solid education system for generations to come.

Transparency and Parental Rights

We will make transparency the watchword for a school system currently cloaked in secrecy with a recognition of parental rights in the education of their children a fundamental guiding principle for CCSD.

Good Citizenship

A good school system empowers its students with a solid foundation in reading, writing, mathematics and science. But it also has the important job of preparing students not just for a career but also to be good citizens - with a strong understanding of their nation’s history (“warts and all”), its Constitution, and the rights and responsibilities of citizenship.

Strong Curriculum and Solid Teaching

While there are some high-performing schools in CCSD, unfortunately in the majority of them student achievement is very low by U.S. standards. We need to return from the failed “process” approach of the education establishment to the “knowledge” approach of pre-1960’s U.S. schools and the current education practices in Europe and Asia and insist on a solid core curriculum.
